GENERAL SUMMARY:
Primarily to work as a Van Driver doing multi-drop deliveries, delivering temperature-controlled goods to customers. Orders are palletised and loaded using forklift trucks, goods are hand boarded off at the point of delivery. The role is primarily a van driver but on occasional days to be worked as a driver’s assistant.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Loading and unloading stock.
- Checking that all the items are accounted for against delivery sheets, (PODS).
- Ensuring that vehicles are kept in appropriate condition that defects are reported, the cab interior are always kept tidy
- Driving in a safe, courteous and legal manner, complying with all current EU Road Transport regulation and WTD always
- Obtaining delivery signatures from customers.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers in the sales office, customer accounts, cashier office and the transport team
- Responding appropriately to customer enquires
- Receiving and recording payments where applicable
- Ensuring returned goods are acceptable according to the Returns procedure.
- Collecting and returning goods to warehouse – within correct temperature guidelines
- Dealing appropriately with complaints
- Using resources economically
- To check load items are always secure and security of vehicle, all necessary equipment, paperwork, GPS, fuel card, Fire extinguisher, first aid kit, triangle, accident forms are on board prior to leaving the depot for the day's journey
- · On return, clearing all empties off the vehicle
- · On return, removing all personal possessions and rubbish (cans/bottles etc.) from vehicle cabs
- · Ensuring the vehicle is returned with a full tank of fuel and AdBlue
- · To be aware of the legal load capacity of the vehicle to be driven
- · Act as an ambassador for the Company when meeting customers creating an excellent impression
